At the horizon of no return / Na horizonte bez návratu
Does free will exist or is it just an illusion created by chance during the long evolution of mankind?
And what about the fate of the human race – are we inevitably doomed to extinction? Are we cursed or blessed by the illusion of our own ego?
These are the questions choreographer László Fülöp seeks to answer in his dance performance At the horizon of no return.
We humans often try to maintain as much stability in our lives as possible. In family, in friendships, many of us also in work and partnerships. When the waters are calm, we feel like it’s in our hands. That we are in control.
But in life and in nature, the only stability, the only guarantee, is constant change. Yesterday no longer exists and today is also long gone. And we stand at the horizon of no return. Where do we go from here? Will we adapt to the flow of constant change, the churning of the waters? Will we pretend that everything is as it was? Or will we stand idly by as reality recedes? And if we remain mere observers, won’t it change us anyway?
Abstract questions about human consciousness, experience and change take on more real dimensions on stage. Using movement and dance, At the horizon of no return takes you through a slightly apocalyptic world where change is an experience. Visually, musically, and dance-wise, it is an impressive performance with artistic value but also insight.
